EFM DNA™ · Tactical Pillar
TRANSITION SPEED
One of the 16 Performance Pillars in the EFM DNA™ framework.
What It Means
How quickly a player adjusts mentally and physically the instant possession changes — from attacker to defender, or defender to attacker.
In a Match
Losing the ball in midfield and being the first player sprinting back into a defensive position, not the last.
Why It's Coached Deliberately
The moment possession changes is where games are actually won or lost, yet it's rarely trained as its own skill. EFM drills the mental and physical switch between attacking and defending mode specifically, so the reaction to losing or winning the ball becomes instinctive rather than delayed.
Part of a Larger System
Transition Speed is one of the 16 Performance Pillars in the EFM DNA™ framework, under the Tactical dimension. No pillar is trained in isolation — every session connects back to the full framework.
