EFM DNA™ · Technical Pillar
BALL MASTERY
One of the 16 Performance Pillars in the EFM DNA™ framework.
What It Means
Total comfort on the ball — both feet, close control at speed, and the ability to manipulate the ball under any kind of pressure.
In a Match
Receiving in a crowded midfield with a defender tight on your back and still being able to turn, shield, or move the ball to space in one action.
Why It's Coached Deliberately
Most youth training treats ball mastery as a warm-up exercise, not a trained skill. At EFM it's isolated deliberately, under progressively tighter pressure, until close control holds up when a defender is actually closing the space — not just in cones.
Part of a Larger System
Ball Mastery is one of the 16 Performance Pillars in the EFM DNA™ framework, under the Technical dimension. No pillar is trained in isolation — every session connects back to the full framework.
